Jolene immediately volunteered to try one out...

Cozy Calm weighted blankets with Jolene

To be honest, I had never heard of the blankets prior to Allcare becoming a supplier. But once I was able to learn more about what they are and what kind of effect they can have, I was amazed!

You can visit Cozy Calm's website to read some more in depth articles related to the types of conditions these blankets can help to treat.

Basically the weight of these blankets can have a calming effect on us. Because of that, they have been shown to be useful in helping autistic children and adults, as well as those suffering from insomnia, anxiety, restless leg syndrome, etc. Really quite remarkable!

All of us here at Allcare are eager to get our own blankets. Even though most of us do not suffer from one of these conditions, the weight of the blanket is still soothing and calming to us all.

Prices start at $58 for a lap cozy and can range anywhere from $175-$375 for the comforters, depending upon the material, size, and weight. These blankets are distinct from others available on the web. The filling of the blankets is made from medical grade plastic beads. The blankets are of high quality materials and are available in a wide array of colors and weights.

Stop in our store some time and check them out!

Is it Lumpy?

I use a weighted comforter in the car for when our son (Nick) is having difficulty riding in the car. It is a lifesaver! He's self abusive and getting from A to B would be impossible some days without it. It is not a Cozy Calm. The weight is created using those corn cobs. They're in long sleeves, which are removable. But they bunch up terribly. You have to shake the blanket to even out the weight.

He is also an absolutely terrible sleeper. On our most desperate nights - when we've been up most of the night for several days in a row, I've tried using this weighted comforter in his bed. Trouble is, the shifting of the corn cobs. He rolls around and winds up laying on lumps. He's also in diapers, which tend to leak. If the corn cobs were to get wet - there goes the blanket - which I need in the car. And it wasn't cheap - around $300.

So, I'm wondering if this Cozy Calm's plastic beads are sewn in better so that the weight says even and not lumpy. Being able to wash them is a HUGE plus. I'll be so excited if this blanket would work well. We could really use a lot more sleep in our house!

No lumps!

I'm so sorry it took me so long to respond. I missed your comment earlier in the month. The beads are medical grade and they don't become deformed or clump up. There are lots of individual pockets that they're sewn into, so there's not any big lumpiness. Not sure where you are located, but if you're in our area, we have a few in store you could try out. Otherwise, visit Cozy Calm's website where you can see the full selection and colors available. We have had some sucess with getting the blankets approved through insurance as well, so please feel free to give us a call 508-865-4857 or shoot me an email. Hope we can help!
